Jobs

We all agree that the best way to lead Connecticut out of the economic recession is to put people back to work. That means finding ways to grow small businesses, encourage hiring and spur economic development in industries of historic strength for Connecticut and in new fields where Connecticut has the resources to become a leader. It also means strengthening our education system from pre-school through our world class colleges and universities to prepare a workforce for jobs in demand and keep talented individuals employed in the state.

This year I was a proud supporter of a comprehensive jobs bill that will rejuvenate Connecticut’s economy. Part of the legislation focuses on Connecticut’s opportunity to become a leader in green and emerging industries that expand our workforce and protect our environment. Leveraging Connecticut’s assets, the bill incents companies to hire and rewards innovation by providing access to capital for small businesses and new business ventures, especially in the emerging fields of renewable energy and clean technology.
